Glass art
Before I chose to pursue a degree in chemistry I was a "starving artist" making borosilicate glass art. Though I was able to support myself and blew glass full time, mentor of mine, who had a degree in chemistry, noticed my growing interest in the chemistry of glass. This was primarily the coloring process, specifically the reduction and oxidation of gold and silver, and fluorescent colored glass. That is when he pushed me to take a few classes at Portland State University to explore the subject more, the rest is history. Unbeknownst to me, the glass transition is one of the great unsolved mysteries in condensed matter physics. In fact during my graduate statistical mechanics course I gave a presentation on the statistical mechanical treatment of non-ergodic theory and the glass transition.

A sculpture made for my mom for Mother's Day
An ancient venetian technique called millefiori, made for my sister's wedding party featuring hand wrapped silver wire bail and an encased opal.
My first attempt at a "disc flip", this section took me 3+ hours to create! This piece is safely with one of my most dedicated collectors.
